Increased funding for PREP in 2012/13 means more grant money for RMs! Grant allotments for 2012 have increased to $8.00 per agricultural site (up from $5.00 in 2011) and $70.00 per township (up from $61.00 in 2011). Not much has changed in this year's program guidelines; however, additional information the RM is required to report includes the amount of their 2012 rat control budget and actual expenses. RMs must also distinguish between occupied and unoccupied sites being inspected; and the PCO's valid license number is also requested on the Statement of Compliance Form.
Thank you all those who participated in the January 2012 PCO Workshops. The presentations are available for download:
November 2011 - PREP adopts a policy that a PCO Supervisor signature is required on all "Notice to Destroy" forms. This practice ensure that PCO Supervisors are aware of challenges and also demonstrates PREP's support of local PCOs. View the Map for contacts in your area.
August 2011 - The PREP Board strongly recommends that all landfills be inspected at least once per month by pest control officers to ensure that infestations are caught early and closely monitored. The potential for rat populations to quickly escalate exists, making growing rat populations more difficult to control if left unattended for long periods of time. The costs of overwhelming infestations are much higher than regular monthly inspections.
